The countryside was an inferno, the Dutch were nuzzling the shores, and a suspended dagger swung loosely a meter above the king’s head as he lay down to sleep.

“Get that rabble of a cat out of this room.

He stares at me while I’m asleep and messes with my dreams.”

Why he, a harmless necessary cat.

“Nevertheless. Remove him, or I’ll do it from here.”

  3. On behalf of the cat, what's this "rabble" business. His liege could only hope to be as regal as any cat.
